- to consider the well-being and interests of the municipality as a whole and to bring to the council's attention anything that would promote the well-being or interests of the municipality;
- to participate generally in developing and evaluating the policies and programs of the municipality;
- to participate in meetings of the council and of council committees and other bodies to which the member is appointed by the council;
- to keep in confidence a matter that is discussed at a meeting closed to the public under subsection 152(3) and that the committee decides to keep confidential until the matter is discussed at a meeting of the council or of a committee conducted in public;
- to perform any other duty or function imposed on the member by the council or the Municipal Act or any other Act.
- to preside when in attendance at a council meeting, except where the procedures by-law or this or any other Act otherwise provides;
- to provide leadership and direction to the council; and
- to perform any other duty or function assigned to a head of council by the council or by the Municipal Act or any other Act.
In an attempt to open the lines of communication with all residents of Steinbach, Mayor Goertzen would like to invite each citizen to visit with him during an “Open Door Day”. The mayor would love to hear your views, ideas, and vision for Steinbach.
“Open Door Day” is held the third Friday of each month (except December), from 9am until 11:30am. It will be held at the Mayor’s office at Steinbach City Hall, 225 Reimer Ave.
This is a wonderful way for the citizens of Steinbach to access the Mayor’s office without an appointment. “Open Door Day” will operate on a first come, first served basis. Residents are given 10 minutes to discuss their issues privately with the mayor.
