Hanover Kickers Soccer Club currently has over 700 adults and youth playing soccer in Steinbach. To accomodate players and teams, the City built a new soccer park, which opened Spring 2009. The park is located on the west end of the city, northwest of L.A. Barkman Park. Access to the park will be off of Highway #52.
The new site, which measures 40 acres in size, has about 25 acres currently being developed. There are five full size pitches (a full size soccer pitch is about two acres in size), with additional space for mini fields. Each of these five pitches is 'crowned' for drainage purposes and underground drainage has been developed between the soccer pitches to move water away quickly after a rainfall. The premier field has a full underground irrigation system and three additional pitches have above ground irrigation.
