Flooding Information

Residents noting problems with water flow in their ditches, caused by ice jams or frozen/plugged culverts, are asked to report problems to the City’s Operations office at 346-6211. City staff will assess your situation and have equipment attend your site on a priority basis to keep water flowing. Please note that workers and equipment may be clearing culverts downstream first in order to allow water to get away before getting to your plugged culvert or ditch.

The City of Steinbach has sand bags in stock to assist Steinbach residents during a flood event. Those people requiring sand bags can call the City’s Operations office at 346-6211 during non-emergency times. During flood emergencies in Steinbach, please call Randy Reimer at 326-0679. Residents are responsible for filling their own sand bags.

Residents should make sure that snow is removed from around their homes. Water spouts and drains should be clear of debris to allow the snow melt to flow from the residence.

If you require a pump to assist with flood emergencies, the following businesses have pumps for rent or purchase: Palmlite, Keystone Rentals, Penn-Co Rentals, PFP Sales, NAPA, and Enns Brothers.
